Thanks for downloading my first completed Blades scenario, The Orb of Hauyne, which is (for a change) not combat-based. I'm not really sure how to define my scenario. It's got quite a few puzzles in it, and side quests that can be completed during or after the main quest has been completed. Any feedback would be appreciated, so please e-mail me. If you have any suggestions, problems or bugs, please do write to me.

Immense thanks to the four people who beta-tested my scenario, who did a lot more than just play it through, and really deserve to share any complements my scenario receives:

Peter Hawkinson
Lew Titterton
Eleanor Seall
Jason Kerley

Please note, however, that any bugs which have got through this rigorous screening are solely my fault. This is the Read Me for the v1.0.1 release. If any more bugs, major or otherwise, are discovered, I will redistribute the updated scenario. A list of what has been altered is at the end of this Read Me. Also, please try out Lew's scenario, To The Quick.

You should find in the downloaded file the .exs scenario file, the .meg Macintosh graphics file, a .gif version, a .bmp PC graphics file, the read me file and the answers file. Look in the answers file if you have any problems whilst playing the scenario - that said, I always welcome emails.

The Plot: 50 or so years AE3 (After Exile 3), most of Exile had flocked to the Surface, reclaiming the sunlight that was stolen from them years ago. The four continents of the Empire had begun to get overcrowded. The Empire then began to sponsor explorers, to search the seas surrounding the continents. The Isle of Ephicene was discovered to the west of Gale, eerily unpopulated. After a thorough search of the Isle, it was declared to be safe. People began to move out there, and settle down.

Ephicene is now flourishing, with 7 known settlements and a major city said to rival any on the Empire mainland. Two religions also set up and flourished on the new Island, the Church of the Shining Truth and the Religion of the Abyss; two religions the complete opposite to each other. There is tension between them, but no one thought it would come to anything. Suddenly, a religious artifact was stolen from the altar in the Church of the Shining Truth in the main city, Aixlan. The Mayor there, Phacofair, became worried about how the theft would affect Ephicene, and sent to Valorim for Empire help.

The Empire sent you.

OK, that's it. Please enjoy my scenario, and e-mail me if you run into any problems, or you want to say anything about my scenario:

Thanks to everyone else who has written a Blades scenario, and Jeff Vogel for creating the Exile trilogy and Blades of Exile,

Juliet Rowley

****NOTE: If you are in the Mage's Tower, and you cannot push a barrel over a section of floor, you have encountered a Blades of Exile occasional bug. This one, which is truly not my fault, can be got around if you go into combat mode, and then push the barrels around. One person complained to Spiderweb that my scenario had this fault - I have never been able to make it occur when I play, and talking to various highly knowledgable people on a Blades mailing list has made me recommend using combat as the way to get past this. Apologies if this happens to you.

Changes in Version 1.0.1

The problem with too many random outdoor combats has been fixed
The adventurers in Kvanti cannot now be captured in crystal souls (sorry, but it made it too easy)
It is now possible to recieve your reward from the ghost in Terracosta
One minor typo corrected, one stuff done flag changed (which created a problem completing the scenario, but has only occured once - to my knowledge)
The graphics file has been realigned (some custom monsters had half their heads cut off, which was a bit cruel)

There is still, apparently, one misspelling at large in the scenario. I couldn't find it. If you find it, please tell me where. JRVV2pDma<q &pcDmmNCDHpbpmXmD0p4H,&[pdaLmY!II-IMmaIE6Fmm1Imppppr
